Student Resources
Overview
The Student Government Association represents, supports, and advocates for the undergraduate student body. Through funding, representation, and collaboration with University leadership, SGA ensures student voices directly shape decisions that impact academic success, campus life, and the overall student experience.
This page outlines resources available to individual students and SGA-recognized student organizations.
For Individual Students
Academic & Professional Funding
The Academic Fund Board (AFB) provides reimbursement funding for academic and professional development opportunities, including conferences, competitions, research materials, certifications, and graduate preparation expenses.
Application instructions, eligibility requirements, and meeting information are available on the [Academic Fund Board page] (hyperlink to AFB subheading on this website). Students may also visit the Student Government Association page on UEngage and view the step-by-step guide available on the SGA Instagram page.
Student Concerns & Advocacy
Students may submit concerns, suggestions, or proposals for consideration by SGA. Concerns may relate to academic policy, campus life, student services, or broader institutional matters.
Students are encouraged to contact their academic or constituency Senator directly regarding issues affecting their experience.
Representation on University Committees
SGA appoints student representatives to major University committees to ensure student input is included in decisions related to academics, finance, campus policies, institutional planning, and other key areas of campus governance.
Legislative Engagement
Students may attend Senate meetings, observe deliberations, and bring forward proposals through their Senator or through formal resolution procedures. When appropriate, SGA also represents University of Evansville students at the local, state, and national levels.
Meeting information is available on the Student Government Association page on UEngage.
For Student Organizations
SGA supports recognized student organizations through funding, representation, and governance guidance. Recognition standards and procedural requirements are outlined on the Governance page.
Annual Budget Allocation
Recognized student organizations in good standing may apply for funding through the annual SGA budget allocation process. Organizations are only eligible to submit a budget if they are requesting over $2,000.
Through the Finance and Budget Committee, SGA reviews and approves organizational budgets to ensure responsible and transparent stewardship of student activity funds.
Monetary Resolutions
Organizations may request funding for specific events, programs, or initiatives through a monetary resolution. Requests must follow SGA guidelines and may not serve as the sole source of funding for an event or project.
Resolution procedures are detailed on the Governance page.
Recognition & Good Standing
Student organizations must obtain and maintain SGA recognition to remain eligible for funding and campus privileges. Organizations are expected to comply with participation and financial policies.
Organizations unsure of their status should contact the SGA Secretary.
Appeal Process
Organizations placed in bad standing may submit a formal appeal through established SGA procedures.
Financial Oversight & Accountability
SGA oversees financial compliance and reimbursement procedures to ensure accountability in the use of student activity funds. Additional governance policies are available on the Governance page.
