Assistant/Associate Professor of Theatre Performance: Directing and Acting
The University of Evansville seeks to attract, culturally and academically diverse applicants of the highest caliber who are qualified teaching artists for a tenure–track, Assistant/Associate Professor of Theatre Performance: Directing and Acting position in a nationally recognized undergraduate Department of Theatre, beginning August 1, 2019. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, scholarship, and service to the University, community, and profession.
Applicants should have significant professional experience as a director and/or actor, a background in directing, and a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students within a rigorous liberal arts setting. A secondary area of expertise, such as, movement, stage combat, intimacy direction, acting for the camera, or other related training approach is highly desired. The Department of Theatre is fully committed to a culturally diverse faculty and student body, and we especially seek candidates who have demonstrated expertise in recruiting and teaching a diverse student population.
The successful candidate will teach courses in Theatre Performance curriculum, including Directing I and II, Acting Fundamentals, Scene Study, Character Study, and Audition Techniques. Individual will direct two productions in a six-production season, as well as mentor student directors. We welcome applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented in the faculties of higher education institutions and in the field of Theatre Performance.
Qualifications: MFA degree and significant professional experience required. Previous teaching experience and SDC membership preferred.
