The University of Evansville is looking for a Bookstore Director to lead our campus-owned bookstore operations. The University seeks a dynamic and energetic director with creative ideas for marketing strategies, unique merchandise offerings, and programs to generate additional sales volume for our bookstore.
The Bookstore Director is responsible for leading the operations of the University’s bookstore, including oversight of buying, sales, and product merchandising. The Bookstore Director will provide outstanding customer service to students, parents, faculty, and other University internal and external constituencies. Responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, supervising and training staff; purchasing textbooks and general merchandise, managing textbook rental programs; managing e-book and inclusive access programs; managing marketing and social media communications; facilitating special sales events, including athletic events at off-campus locations; preparation of annual bookstore budget; oversight of daily accounting functions; preparation and analysis of monthly sales and product cost reports; maintaining the bookstore inventory and Booklog point of sale system; completion of annual physical count of bookstore inventory; maintaining the bookstore Timber website. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel is required.
Three years’ experience in bookstore management or relevant retail management experience is required with preference given to candidates with experience in higher education bookstore management.
A bachelor’s degree in marketing or related business field is required.
