Assistant Director of Diversity Recruitment and Programming
The Assistant Director of Diversity Recruitment & Programming serves as the primary personnel implementing diversity recruitment strategies for students from underrepresented racial and ethnic communities. The Assistant Director also develops and implements diversity and inclusion programming for the University of Evansville.
The Assistant Director’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, improving existing programs and develop new programs, implementing recruitment strategies for students from underrepresented racial and ethnic communities, building a strong rapport with students in the Fellows Scholar Program, supervising student workers, and interns for the Center for DEI, and collaborating with student organizations and other internal/ external constituencies to provide activities and exchanges that engage diverse perspectives.
Additional duties include collaborating to provide leadership in the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and events to promote strategic goals of the University, serving on internal university committees to represent the Center for DEI, advocating for students from diverse cultural backgrounds on matters related to their academic success and social development, developing co-curricular cultural programming events on campus that intentionally connect students, faculty, and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds to celebrate diversity, encourage dialogue, increase understanding, and reconciliation.
The minimum requirements for the position include a bachelor’s degree in student affairs, college student development, higher education administration, or related social sciences, humanities, or diversity, equity, and inclusion-related field. Successful applicants must be familiar with predominantly white institutions and surrounding communities and the experiences of historically underrepresented populations within these contexts.
