Since completing her nursing degree at the University of Evansville in 2015, Elizabeth Crooks has been employed as a registered nurse at Cleveland Clinic. Currently, she is an Assistant Nurse Manager on a medical-surgical floor at the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital. In addition, she completed a Master of Science degree in Nursing Education at Western Governors University and has become a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse.

While at UE, Elizabeth enjoyed several aspects of the Honors Program experience, including her honors course work and honors project. She explains, “Completing my honors project was my favorite part of the program because I researched something that I am truly passionate about, and I learned a lot about myself through the process. My project and honors classes definitely helped me strive to achieve more academically.”

Elizabeth also appreciated the social part of the program. She notes, “I really liked living in Powell my first and second year of college because I was surrounded by individuals who also had a lot of academic drive.”

Elizabeth feels that her honors experience has benefited her career as well. “The Honors Program encouraged me to always strive to know more and do more. In my job, I am constantly educating staff nurses while also learning along with them.” She also adds, “At Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, I am part of the Evidence-Based Practice and Research Council. Currently, I am part of one research project and heading another. My honors project sparked my interest in nursing research and improving nursing practice.”
