Music Studies Minor

The minor in music studies is designed for the student who has an interest in music but is pursuing a degree in a different area. The minor (20 credit hours) combines courses in music theory and literature with a practical application through ensemble participation and applied music study. An audition is not required for the music minor.

Music Studies Minor Requirements (20 credit hours)

  • MUS 141 and MUS 142: Music Theory (6 credit hours)
  • MUS 255 and MUS 256: Music Literature (6 credit hours)
  • Applied Music: One credit hour per semester for four semesters (total 4 credit hours)
  • Major Ensemble: One credit hour per semester for four semesters (total 4 credit hours)
