The program features two big bands (Jazz Ensemble I and II) and the option of a Jazz Studies Certificate. Join us to learn more about this truly American music."

Jazz Band I and Jazz Band II

The University of Evansville jazz performance experience features two big bands, Jazz Ensemble I and II. Their ever-popular concerts for audiences both on and off campus include jazz, swing, be-bop, fusion and neoclassical jazz.

Highlights of the 2016/17 UE Jazz season included hosting Grammy Award winning jazz trumpeter Doc Severinsen, hosting our 4th annual UE Jazz Band Invitational, concert tour to Atlanta, Memphis and Chattanooga, and hosting a Swing Dance as part of fund raising efforts for the Department of Music. UE Jazz Ensemble I has participated numerous times at the prestigious Elmhurst College Jazz Festival and has hosted internationally acclaimed artists such as Diane Schuur, The New York Voices and Max Weinberg.

Jazz Studies Certificate

Another option open to all students is the opportunity to complete a Jazz Studies Certificate with courses in jazz performance, arranging, improvisation, history and theory.
