The ProRehab and University of Evansville Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program

The ProRehab and University of Evansville's Sports Residency Program is designed to impact the physical therapy profession through the development of world-class sports specialists. We believe that our residents possess a passion for excellence and develop into highly skilled, evidence-based, movement-oriented experts that can positively influence the lives of all the athletes they treat. Our program challenges the resident to embrace the traditional view of sports physical therapy while incorporating the innovative and novel whole-body movement perspective. Optimal movement is the foundation for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, enhancing performance, and decreasing risk for injury.

We believe that through our outstanding evidence-based curriculum, one-on-one mentoring, and functional movement emphasis we can advance the standard of care, promote the physical therapy profession, and ultimately improve the health and wellness of our patients. We are passionate about working with athletes at all levels and provide diverse clinical settings as well as, direct on-field training to each resident. ProRehab clinics are staffed with board certified clinicians who encompass multiple specialty niches, each with an approach based upon manual techniques and the functional movement perspective.

We emphasize one-on-one mentoring with a Certified Sports Specialist and a seasoned Certified Athletic Trainer in order to bridge the gap between acute management and clinical treatment. We also provide community outreach opportunities with a common goal of implementing individualized injury prevention.

Our focus is on people. From the management of the program, to the relationships between the mentors and residents, to the interaction on-field with athletes and team physicians, our program provides both the structured experiences to learn and the freedom to interact personally and professionally to reach individual goals. We not only develop technical sports specialists, but we develop the entire person. While our curriculum exists to prepare the residents for material covered on the sports certification exam (we have a 100% first attempt pass rate on the ABPTS SCS exam), our residents leave with life changing experiences that provide the foundation for a fulfilling career in sports physical therapy.
